Purpose of the flight and payload description

There is no data available on the purpose of the flight or the experiments performed. The balloon was released from Holloman Air Force Base, on March 14 1950. It was followed by the tracking aircraft into western Virginia where it was lost. The termination system onboard failed and the balloon continued its flight crossing the Atlantic Ocean. It landed on March 16 in Northeastern Algeria.
