Description of the payload

HASI is a multisensor package which has been designed to measure the physical quantities characterizing Titan's atmosphere during the descent of the HUYGENS probe in the framework of the NASA/ESA CASSINI/HUYGENS mission in November 2004.

In order to simulate the Huygens probe descent and verify HASI sensors performance in terrestrial environment, a mockup of the Huygens probe was droped from a stratospheric balloon.

This experience have allowed to determine the atmospheric vertical profiles and to obtain a set of data for the analysis of probe trajectory and attitude reconstruction.
