Purpose of the flight and payload description

This was a test of the largest balloon available balloon to the Japanese program, a model B500 measuring a half million cubic meters of volume.

The test was carried out on September 7th, 2012 at the Taiki Aerospace Research Field and consisted in an indoor inflation of the balloon and after sliding the launch platform outside the hangar, the release of the spool holding the inflated bubble to let the balloon ascend.

At that time, instead of launch it, the gas bag was hold tied to the platform, and then de-inflated allowing the recuperation of the helium used in the process.
